Aesthetic Facial Taping: The New, Natural Botox?

Aesthetic Facial Taping: The New, Natural Botox?

Are you curious about the new beauty trend of ‘face taping’ that has been taking over social media lately? With the hashtag #facetape hitting nearly 195.4 million views, it's clear that this trend has captured the attention of beauty enthusiasts worldwide, with some people even claiming that it’s better than botox! Danna Omari from Noy Skincare is making waves in this space. Keep reading to learn all that she has taught me and what she shares with her big audience on social!

First, let’s start with what exactly beauty taping is, and where it came from. Kinesiology tape is a thin, stretchy, and flexible tape that sticks to the skin and muscles. You’ve probably seen this brightly coloured tape over people in the gym, or on your favorite athletes. It is used to promote better blood flow and reduce inflammation and is most often used for helping to heal injuries too. The concept of beauty taping is derived from the Kinesiology taping method, originally designed to help athletes prevent injury and recover faster.  Invented by Japanese chiropractor, Dr. Kenzo Kase, in the 1970's, it was designed to closely support muscles and joints during everyday, leisure and sports activities, providing compression without restricting movement.

If we take injuries out of the equation, beauty taping uses a similar approach to sports taping but is used instead to lift and tighten the skin on the face. So, how does it work? The tapes are strategically applied to specific areas of the face, such as the forehead, cheeks, and jawline, and in doing so, this creates a lifted and toned appearance. The application of the tapes is specially designed to mimic the natural contours of the skin (particularly around the eye socket and the cheekbone), making them an ideal tool for lifting and tightening the skin in the areas where we often need or want it the most.

This lifting and tightening effect works by gently pulling the epidermis upwards, which creates space under the skin. By creating this space, the tapes promote better circulation and help blood and lymph flow more effectively in the face and even the neck area so the lymphatic drainage that comes along with the face taping and face massage is a major bonus point.

The combination of this face taping, alongside manual face correction, massage and self-modeling techniques, can produce amazing results in treating fine lines, wrinkles, and sculpting the face!

At Agent, we love following Danna on this beauty taping trend. Danna believes that “There is no technology to replace the power of the hands” which is such a powerful way to reframe how our own hands can help with our anti-aging journey. I think this is inspirational.

The more and more I read about face taping, the more I learn that it's not that hard to do when you understand it. Danna helps us understand that you only have to apply this face tape around 1 - 2 times a week to see results so it's not something that you have to do constantly or every day. She explains that you can also sleep in it overnight if that is easier for your schedule, but she likes to apply the face tape around 5 in the evening before removing it right before going to sleep.

She goes on to explain that a big part of the results around face taping is the massage that you do before applying the tapes. She also has a video course to help you learn this which I think is awesome. You can purchase Danna’s tape, and her educational courses here so you can become your own expert at face taping and the supporting massage and lymphatic drainage that is really important too.

Danna is an inspiration and I love that beauty taping is a non-invasive, natural, and effective way to lift and tighten your skin, smoothing out wrinkles and improving skin elasticity without resorting to expensive and painful cosmetic procedures. It also can work alongside any procedures that you are incorporating into your face routine, but just be sure to talk with a professional to ensure that your face is ready for some massage and taping!

It is great to work with a trained professional to ensure you get the best results and prevent any potential risks, but I also love that Danna teaches you how you can do this yourself, safely, at home. So, why not give beauty taping a try and see the difference for yourself? Do we think ‘Goodbye injectables, hello face taping’ is going to be a thing? I’d love to hear your thoughts.
