Name: Nikki Bostwick
Instagram: @nikkibostwick / @thefullestmag
Job Description: Founder and Editor-in-Chief of The Fullest Mag.
Beauty Icon: Jena Covello!
Favorite city for inspiration: New York City.
Introvert or extrovert: Extrovert turned introvert.
Daily uniform: Cream Lauren Manoogian wool coat.
AM ritual: I brush my teeth and then apply agent nateur holi oil on the face, Aime x agent Nateur probiotic deodorant. Then I make breakfast for my son and head out for our daily morning walk outside near the beach.
PM wind down: I take a bath with my favorite agent nateur holi bath, which is the only soak I mess with! It truly smells divine. Evening baths are a ritual I feel so grateful to experience. It’s the only ‘me time’ I get while my husband reads a story to our baby boy before I put him down for bed.
Best Advice: Don’t be more than 10% ahead of your audience/community, etc. I usually find myself onto something new long before other people are, which is why our website is always looked up to when it comes to wellness.
However, when I try to share something or get my point across when I’m way too out there, I know I will lose people. I’m always looking for that sweet spot that is relatable, but still embarks some wisdom and opens people up to new possibilities of being and thinking.
Mistake you’ve learned from: I used to be so extreme in my “wellness” routine with the way I ate and how much I exercised, but it made me hold onto so much inflammation because I was in a constant state of fear. I was just so regimented because I didn’t trust myself. It was so important for me to take a step back and ask myself what wellness meant to me— not what I thought wellness looked like.
I’ve honestly never been healthier or happier. Of course, I still care about what I put in and around my body, but it was the trust in myself and my decisions that I needed. I shifted from trying to control everything to just knowing I love and trust myself just as I am. The mindset shift is everything.
To your younger self: Relax!!! You don’t need Adderall. You don’t need birth control. You don’t need all that makeup. You don’t need to drink and smoke cigarettes to fit in. Ugh, if only I could go back and tell her how beautiful she was and how her parent’s constant fighting and divorce has nothing to do with her. I’m so happy I finally got out of that way of being!
A wellness expert who has significantly helped you: Dr. Habib Sadeghi. I went to him without a regular period, with major inflammation, and with hypothyroid. I came out with no inflammation, a baby, and off my thyroid meds! I love him, unconditionally. He is now a part of my family. We worked on everything from the mind to my physical body. He is the real deal.
Favorite wellness/beauty book: High Vibrational Beauty by Cap Beauty cofounders, Cindy DiPrima Morisse and Kerrilynn Pamer.
Three things you’re really into right now: Soba Tea (toasted buckwheat tea) and Saffron. I drink my Saffron Latte instant powder as well as saffron water infusions with plain saffron threads.
How are you managing anxiety in light of the COVID-19? Walking! Lots of walking outside, by the beach, in the hills, and connecting with the natural elements. I’m staying present by focusing on what I can do each day versus what I am going to do in the long term. I am a big fan of knowing what it is that you want overall, and working backwards to figure out what is in our power and within our control to do on a daily basis to get there. Maybe I get overwhelmed during this time because I’m nervous about the virus hitting hard in my hometown, or about 5g towers going up everywhere, or how things will look economically and how that will impact my company and my employees’ livelihood, and my family. But then I remember that the only thing I can focus on today is how to create a safe space in my home. We have created a “wifi free” home that will at least reduce our EMF exposure. I’m also focusing on formulating products that I believe can truly benefit people during this time and in the near future. It’s what I can focus on today that empowers me and removes the fear.
