Hyping Up Hyaluronic Acid For Hair

Hyping Up Hyaluronic Acid For Hair

Hyaluronic acid has mostly been in the spotlight for the hydration it can bring to your skin and how it can be the ultimate moisturizer. I believe that 2023 is going to see it as a major hair care trend and that is why I formulated it into hair (silk), my jasmine & amber-infused lightweight silk peptide hair serum that I launched earlier this year with my friend Dara Kaye. hair (silk) delivers the ultimate gloss and soft shine for your hair, all without the use of silicones (because although silicones might make your hair look shinier in the short term, they can really dry out your hair in the long term). Instead, I have created a hyaluronic-heavy, restorative and protective styling serum that is in a league of its own against other hair oils on the market.

A key ingredient in the hair (silk) formulation is hyaluronic acid, a humectant that holds up to 1000 times its weight in water. Research shows that 1 gram of hyaluronic acid can bind up to 6 liters of water meaning that it could be considered as the ultimate hydrator. Many people overlook the power hyaluronic acid holds for hair but they shouldn’t. Just like it can deliver ultimate hydration to skin, it can do the same to hair too.

Hyaluronic acid is actually a naturally occurring compound in our body but as we age, hyaluronic acid production decreases in the body (the same way that collagen does). Lowering levels of hyaluronic acid impacts our hair health because it impacts the dermal cells that surround our hair follicles and this can be one of the reasons that we get thinner, finer, more dry and more brittle as we age.

hair (silk) is the perfect solution for hair that needs some extra TLC and the benefits of hyaluronic acid help both hair and scalp. The humectant nature of hyaluronic acid means that it absorbs and locks moisture into the hair shaft. This fills in the cracks and gaps of a damaged or worn hair shaft in a restorative way, making the hair look thicker, softer, smoother, as well as happier, healthier and more revitalized. Some research suggests this process and the hyaluronic acid may add more volume to your mane as well through this plumping effect. Filling in the cracks helps to rebuild damage done through day to day life such as constantly tying your hair up, coloring or styling, brushing aggressively, or even through seasonal temperature and humidity changes.

The hyaluronic acid in hair (silk) is also protective because it acts as a barrier to the outside world. It seals the cuticle of the hair and seals moisture in (hello hydration) and keeps external pollutants and chemicals out. Another study has also shown that hyaluronic acid can increase resistance of the hair follicle to outside force and it can lead to 'an improvement in general appearance and conditioning of the hair'.

As well as restoring your hair into a long, smooth and shiny mane, hyaluronic acid also benefits our scalp through hydrating and soothing the scalp matrix. Studies show the ability to modulate human dermal papilla cells, as well as the power for calming dandruff and also promoting collagen in the scalp. All of these benefits can help to promote healthy hair follicles and voluminous hair growth.

I love hair (silk) and this exquisite formula that Dara and I have created. This ultra-hydrating high-molecular weight hyaluronic acid is combined with some other smoothing ingredients including: french silk peptides (helping to strengthen hair from root to tip, as well as improving elasticity), Beracare ARS Hair Serum™ (an active ingredient that promotes hair follicle revitalization and scalp hydration), Crambe abyssinica seed phytosterol esters (delivering moisture, hydration and shine) as well as monoi oil, passiflora edulis seed, pumpkin seed, the hibiscus rosa-sinensis plant and more. The high antioxidant content and the Vitamin E, linoleic acid, omega-3s, omega-6s, lycopene also help to nourish hair from root to tip to help deliver the soft, sleek, healthy hair glow that we are all after.

So, if you’re looking for a sleek, styling serum that delivers a filling and restorative effect, as well one that promotes the appearance of thick, voluminous hair and gives you a smooth and healthy finish then hair (silk) is for you. It will help your hair achieve its maximum potential. It’s particularly powerful for dull and damaged hair, split ends, dry scalp, hair breakage, hair dryness, frizziness and hard to style hair but it is suitable for all hair, including fine hair too.

Remember - it is a styling serum. Apply it before air or blow drying or as a finishing oil for extra shiny, silky hair.
