Ok, so back to basics - what is Capixyl™?

What are the main ingredients?

Introducing Acetyl Tetrapeptide-3 (it’s a peptide!)

Acetyl Tetrapeptide-3 is a uniquely patented peptide that has a direct effect on the hair follicle and surrounding extracellular matrix (ECM) around the hair follicle that is the most important physical scaffolding found in all tissues and organs in the body. 

This peptide ingredient is amazing because by incorporating it into holi(locks) it stimulates:

• tissue remodeling;

• tissue rebuilding; and also
• improves the strength and longevity of the proteins found in the extracellular matrix of the skin.

The development of stronger extracellular matrix proteins means:

• better hair anchoring;

• less hair damage; and

• increasing hair follicles’ size.



What this means is that the active ingredient Acetyl Tetrapeptide-3 being included in the active ingredient Capixyl™ in our holi(locks) super strength hair serum will help our Agent Army take one step closer to better hair vitality, faster growth, and overall healthier, fuller, and thicker-looking hair.

And the Red Clover Extract? What about this?

At Agent, we are obsessed with naturally derived ingredients and so knowing that Capixyl™ also incorporates this ingredient too was a win-win for us during formulation. 

Red clover Extract is derived from a natural plant source and traditionally, has been used to treat asthma, cancer, gout, and other inflammatory skin disorders (i.e. psoriasis and eczema).

As mentioned earlier, it’s rich in Biochanin A - which brings even more benefits to the compound.

Biochanin A, a compound found in the Red Clover Extract, is a major isoflavone and has powerful phytoestrogenic and antioxidant effects (as well as many other effects).

What does Red Clover Extract & Biochanin A actually do in terms of hair loss?

Those who suffer from hair loss, or hair thinning, will find that their hair growth cycle is interfered with, and disrupted by, an increase in a hormone called DHT (which stands for dihydrotestosterone). 



When the hormone DHT increases, it is converted from testosterone by an enzyme called 5-alpha reductase (5-ar) - and this conversion process happens in both men and women.


High levels of DHT in the body will:


• Decrease the hair’s growth cycle; meaning 

• Thinner and weaker hair; 

• Shrinkage of hair follicles; making them

• More prone to falling out; as well as

• Weakening the connective tissue around the hair follicle; and
• 
*Increasing levels of oxidative stress and inflammation on the scalp.

What impact does Biochanin A have on balding and hair loss? 


Biochanin A is an effective inhibitor of 5α-reductase type I & II activity - meaning that it suppresses the creation of the DHT hormone. In turn, stopping its interference with the hair growth cycle.

On top of preventing and reducing hair loss and miniaturization, researchers have also demonstrated that the presence of Biochanin A in the body:


• Modulates chronic inflammation;
• Functions as an important antioxidant; and

• Limits free radical damage to the skin & scalp.


Sounds very promising. And are there studies to back this up?

Yes, increasing levels of research are coming through on the effectiveness of the topical application of Capixyl™ to help with hair loss, hair thinning, and general hair health. 

A recent clinical trial focusing on investigating the compound effect of red clover extract and peptides in treating alopecia within four months of daily application showed an increase in hair count by +13% over the course of the study.
