I started formulating holi (glow) (our ageless eye serum) after the wildfires in California in 2018. I wanted to formulate a product that not only protected the delicate skin around my eyes from crazy levels of free radical damage and pollution but I also wanted to create one that worked to reduce the appearance of dark circles and eye bags at the same time.

Two of the most powerful ingredients in holi (glow) that work against the appearance of dark circles are hawkweed extract (taken from a flowering plant in the daisy family called Hieracium Pilosell) and the daisy flower extract (so sweet!).

Packed with organic compounds and amino acids, these extracts work to reduce the appearance of puffiness and brighten the eye socket and under eye area but their *real* power is how they work to reduce the appearance and darkness of under eye circles and bags.

They help the body to create and produce heme oxygenase which helps to break down heme. Heme is a molecule that hosts an iron molecule and is a dark-colored molecule. It is the build up of blood-colored products and accumulation of heme from blood leakage in the eye socket area that creates the appearance of dark circles - (not the nicest sentence you might read today, but that’s the science for you!)

Together, the extracts reduces the build-up of heme, reduces vascular endothelial growth factor (meaning improved circulation in the eye area), and prevents the build-up of melanin. This build up of melanin makes these dark circles and eye bags more noticeable, so the reduction of the appearance of heme & melanin is part of the product’s power. 

Hawkweed extract and daisy flower extract are also packed full of flavonoids (amazing for their antioxidant and soothing actions) and tannins (that are anti-inflammatory, help to reduce redness and also reduce cell damage by being another powerful antioxidant).

I love all of my formulations to be backed by science but the special thing about holi (glow) is that it also delivers magic at the same time. It glides on like a gel, dries like a balm, can be used all over your face and a highlighter and is the perfect eye-bag minimiser.
