Jena's April Edit

In case you missed it, we had a little celebration recently! Ten years of Agent Nateur and I’m so proud of everything I have achieved and learnt in that decade. From my desire to create effective and clean beauty, to my research, talking to experts, exploring ingredients from around the world, and building a strong and supportive team as we launched - and sold out of - product after product. But it started with a vision, and I worked hard to make it become a reality. This is why I always say, work out what you want, then make it happen.

I first created holi (stick), our all-natural deodorant, when I learned about the harmful effects of metals in traditional deodorants. Fast-forward ten years, and we just relaunched with a range inspired by five of my favorite places and experiences. Crafted for all-day freshness and soft, smooth skin, these are formulated with plant oils, butters, and beeswax, to nourish your skin while protecting its microbiome and leaving you with a clean and lasting scent.

While many "natural" deodorants still contain hidden toxins, holi (stick) is truly clean—aluminum-free, and synthetic fragrance-free. Aluminum is toxic to humans in large doses and repeated exposure can lead to accumulation in the body and create an array of issues. It also blocks sweat glands - and we need to sweat to help regulate body temperature and flush out toxins. We don’t use synthetic fragrances either, because they also contain hidden dangers and are a leading cause of skin sensitivities, rashes, and contact dermatitis, particularly in this area of our bodies.

And why go synthetic when you can have natural scents as gorgeous as these?

8233 Blackburn: The birthplace of Agent Nateur. My old West Hollywood address, where I spent countless hours blending oils into something evocative and unisex. The scent embodies masculine and feminine, an addictive balance of sensual, woodsy oils and soft, creamy tonka bean.

Notes: Incense, Vetiver, Moss, Sandalwood, Cedarwood, Tonka Bean, Vanilla, Patchouli, Iris, Rose

Saint Honore Roses: A love letter to Paris. The memory of picking up roses while strolling along Rue Saint-Honoré, before returning to my room to formulate. The air, heavy with the fragrance of petals and the alluring mix of perfume shops lining the street, was intoxicating. This scent captures that memory—deep, musky, and woodsy, where the elegance of rose meets the warmth of vanilla, and patchouli.

Notes: Rose, Orange Blossom, Neroli, Amber, Caramel, Helichrysum, Saffron, Patchouli

Ambroxan Cloud: An obsession born in Grasse—the moment I discovered ambroxan, I was addicted. It reminds me of the freshest spring morning, the crispness of a sun-dried cotton shirt swaying in the breeze of a jasmine-filled field. Clean, airy, sensual.

Notes: Natural Ambroxan, Jasmine, Amber, Apple, Pear, Grape

Tarte Tropezienne: (This one’s a limited 10th birthday edition, so grab yours before they’re gone!) This fragrance is inspired by pure indulgence—the irresistible, creamy sweetness of my favorite dessert, Tarte Tropézienne, born in the heart of St. Tropez. Think golden pastry dusted with sugar, orange blossom, kissed by ripe raspberries and layered with smooth vanilla and coconut cream. Delicious, decadent, and completely addictive.

Notes: Vanilla, Orange Blossom, Coconut, Raspberry, Apricot, Lemon

Cap d’Antibes: A scent that captures the sun-drenched feel of the French Riviera. Mornings spent swimming at Hotel du Cap, skin kissed by the ocean, cocooned in coconut-scented suntan oil. Driving through winding roads in nothing but a swimsuit, salty skin mingling with the intoxicating air of my chemist’s lab in Carros and Vallauris. A sensual blend of sun-warmed coconut skin, ripe cherries, and delicate roses.

Notes: Passion Fruit, Coconut, Mint, Peach, Cherry, Rose

SimiHaze Beauty recently launched this new range of cute and stackable color glaze Lip and Cheek Pigments and we seriously can’t get enough! They’re as soft and nourishing as their lip balms, and give a long-lasting, light-reflecting tint. Versatile as ever, you can also use these on your eyes - and because they’re iridescent and really pigmented, a little goes a long way.

I’m always looking for styling tools that do a great job and are kind to my hair. This Mane by Mane Addicts heated round styling brush reduces frizz and boosts shine, so you can style curls that last, recreate or maintain a blowout for a few extra days, and boost your root volume. It doesn’t get super hot, so it’s not damaging to your hair, plus it’s really easy to use, and the price makes it an affordable investment.

Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy is a treatment that can boost energy, improve circulation, and support immune function, so we can use it to recover or as a preventative measure to improve our wellness. Traditionally used to treat chronic wounds and other medical conditions, it’s now growing in popularity as a general health boost. It takes place in a hyperbaric chamber that’s usually a sealed room or a pod-like device. Once inside, air pressure is increased two to three times, so that we breathe in a higher concentration of oxygen - between 90-100% (whereas normal room air contains just 21%). We then experience an increase in oxygen delivery to the body’s tissues, which results in a boost in collagen production, detoxification, an increase in energy levels, improved circulation, the building and repairing of blood cells, and skin and wound healing. Some people notice the benefits immediately, but the more sessions you have, the more benefits you feel and see.

I’m still so concerned about the air quality in California following the wild fires. I drove through the area recently and it’s still unbelievably smokey and the air quality is just horrendous. We know from the experience of 9/11 that there’s an increased risk of cancer during these times, but there are supplements you can take to help. If you live in or around that area, or in a polluted city, here’s what I would recommend:

  • Vitamin C: 3000 - 6000 mg/day in divided doses

  • Vitamin D3: 10,000 IU a day

  • Vitamin E

  • Magnesium

  • Milk Thistle

  • Glutathione supplement: I love Dr. Nayan’s transdermal

  • N-acetyl cysteine (NAC): 600 mg 3x a day

  • Selenium: 200 mcg a day

Did you know green tea is incredible for lungs? It’s full of antioxidants and anti-inflammatory properties which help to combat inflammation and oxidative stress in the lungs, potentially protecting against damage from pollutants, and it’s also been shown to slow down fibrosis and tissue scarring. And of course it’s one of those great all rounders, so it’s good for heart health, brain health and can boost skin health too. Aim for three cups per day.

If you ever experience stress, anxiety or depression, it’s tempting to stay home alone and wait for everything to pass. But there’s something you can do to help alleviate those feelings and boost your wellbeing, and it’s a very simple activity - spend time with loved ones and dogs. Family and friends can boost your self-worth and make you feel you belong, they can reassure you that things are temporary, and can take your mind off things - so you’ll be glad you made the effort. And dogs well… they’re just the best therapy! When I got Federico I really had no idea how calming, healing and rewarding being around a dog could be. Here’s how that works:

  • When we interact with our furry friends, our brains produce ‘happy hormones’ like oxytocin, serotonin, and dopamine, leading to a greater sense of well-being. Having a pet to stroke and snuggle creates a new emotional connection. That bond brings comfort, boosting our mood, easing feelings of sadness, and reducing symptoms of depression, especially when we’re having a bad day, dealing with an illness or a crisis. This is why dogs visiting nursing homes bring such joy, and why petting zoos are organized by colleges during exam periods.

  • Dogs in particular have been proven to reduce stress, anxiety and depression. Just having one eases loneliness and improves your overall health. With stress and burnout rates on the rise, having a furry friend waiting for you at home is scientifically proven to improve your mental and physical health.

  • Dog walks are a great way for us to socialize, for us and the dogs! Plus, we get our steps in and spend more time outdoors - and getting outside is always a sure mood-booster.

  • Interacting with dogs can lower our levels of cortisol, the stress hormone. Studies have also evidenced that dog owners tend to have lower blood pressure and cholesterol levels compared to non-owners.

Even if you don’t have a dog of your own, there are still some ways of making that connection - hang out with friends who do, volunteer at a shelter, become a pet sitter, or look at joining a pet walking program.

My fashion choice this month has to be this adorable pleated mini dress in silk mousseline from Chloe. It’s the most angelic shade of pale grey with a touch of Lana Del Ray and that vintage Megan (Mad Men) Draper at the airport vibe. I wore it to our 10th Birthday Party and received so many compliments - let me tell you, I felt like the most fabulous party host all night long.

So next time you’re trying to decide whether or not you should get that dress you’ve had your eye on - just do it. Believe it was meant for you!

Love, Jena x
