The connection between chakra blockages and emotional and physical conditions
Chakras are a powerful part of Jena’s morning routine. For those of you who don’t know a huge amount about the power of our chakras, in Sanskrit (the world’s oldest language), the word chakra means ‘disk’ or ‘wheel’. We have 7 different energy centers in our body and so we have 7 chakras in total and they run from our head to the base of the spine.
For us to live a high vibrational, balanced, unblocked, and aligned life, our chakras need to stay open and balanced. It is when they get blocked, or closed, or stagnant - or even overactive, that you can start to experience symptoms and physical pain related to these overactive or underactive chakras.
Our physical, mental and spiritual bodies are really interlinked, so problems, blockages, or imbalances with a chakra can show up as physical or emotional symptoms. Just like with anything, balance is so important and understanding that pain can stem from these blockages has been a big part of Jena’s own journey and daily routine.
In this blog, we’re going to run you through the 7 key chakras, the colors related to each of them, where they are located and some affirmations to help you balance each one, as well as helping you to understand the pain you might experience in each area of your body (including emotional challenges) if there is an imbalance in one of your chakras.
Let’s start at the top of the body:
Crown Chakra
This is found at the top of your head and it represents your spiritual connection to a higher spiritual power or consciousness. Physically, if it is blocked, imbalanced or underactive, often it may show up as dizziness, vision issues, cognitive issues, memory problems, and nervous system imbalances.
The color of the crown chakra is purple. For those who want to meditate and focus on balancing this chakra and the purple light at the top of the head, you can also focus on repeating specific mantras whilst focusing on the chakra, such as:
- I am one with the universe; and
- I invite and allow divine energy to flow through me
Third Eye Chakra
This chakra is located in between your eyes and eyebrows. It’s responsible mainly for intuition and imagination and dreaming, particularly for your ability to dream up the life you want to lead. Physically, if it is blocked, imbalanced, or underactive, often it may show up as ear and eye issues, balance issues, sleep paralysis, learning disabilities, and hormone dysfunction.
The color of the crown chakra is dark indigo blue. For those who want to meditate and focus on imagining this dark light at the top of the head, you can also focus on specific mantras such as:
- I am wise, intuitive, and connected to my inner guidance; and
- I trust the divine intuition within me I am connected to a higher power
For Jena to help balance her third eye chakra, she always writes down her dreams every morning and what she wants and wishes to manifest. Jena does this every single day so she can see how much is coming her way over time!
Throat Chakra
This chakra is located on and around your throat, it is responsible for communication, as well as speaking and expressing your truth authentically. Physically, if your throat chakra is blocked, imbalanced or underactive, often it may show up as throat problems, neck stiffness, cold symptoms, and thyroid imbalances. Emotionally, you may find it very hard to speak your truth or speak up if your throat chakra is blocked.
The color of the throat chakra is aquamarine blue and whilst picturing this color around your throat, you can use mantras such as:
- I speak my truth clearly and authentically; and
- I express my love and goodness every time I speak
Heart Chakra
The heart chakra is located around and just above your heart, and is your center for love, empathy, compassion, and forgiveness. Emotionally, if your heart chakra is blocked you may find it difficult to connect with others or feel compassion for them. Physically, if your heart chakra is blocked, you may experience chronic fatigue, upper back pain (because the chakra also goes to the back of your body), heart-related issues, anxiety, and depression
The color of the throat chakra is green and you can use mantras such as:
- I am full and worthy of love; and
- I am loving to others, myself and all around me;
- I forgive
Solar Plexus Chakra
The solar plexus chakra is located in the upper abdomen / stomach area. It is connected to your ability to feel confident and in control. If it is blocked, emotionally you may experience self-doubt, low self-esteem, and lack of trust in yourself. Physically, if your solar plexus is blocked, you may experience indigestion, gut and stomach issues, liver problems, and high blood pressure.
The color of the solar plexus chakra is a beautiful yellow like pure sunlight and you can use mantras such as:
- I can do everything that I desire;
- I release judgment of all others and myself
- I forgive
Sacral Chakra
The sacral chakra is found 2 inches below your navel and in your lower abdomen. It connects to your sense of well-being, pleasure, and sexuality. If it is blocked, emotionally you may experience isolation and detachment from others, particularly being unable to connect physically to another. Physically it may show up as back pain, constipation, urinary problems, gynecological issues, irregular menstruation, and fertility challenges.
The color of the sacral chakra is orange and you can meditate for the health and balance of your sacral chakra by using mantras such as:
- My sexuality is sacred and I embrace my sexuality;
- I welcome intimacy; and
- I deserve sexual pleasure I deserve to enjoy life
Root Chakra
The root chakra is found at the base of your spine. The root chakra acts as the root of the body, grounding you into reality - helping you to feel safe and secure. If it is blocked, emotionally you may experience feelings of insecurity, fear, anxiety, panic, and more. It can show up as a scarcity mindset, victim mindset, and physically even hoarding. Physically, it can show up as problems with the groin and lower limbs, sciatica, bladder, hips, bladder, etc.
The color of the root chakra is red and you can meditate for the health and balance of your root chakra by using mantras such as:
- I am safe, protected, and guided by a power bigger than me;
- I am here, safe, and I release any doubts or fears
