The Agent Nateur holi (grail) Interview: Simi & Haze, Los Angeles-based beauty founders, DJs and campaigners

We are twice as excited for this latest edition of our holi (grail) interview as we welcome twin sisters Simi and Haze Khadra to share their health and beauty routine, secrets, and must-haves! Passionate about their Palestinian heritage, the girls have used their status to raise awareness of the current political situation. They have also poured their hearts and souls into their hugely successful line, Simihaze Beauty, with a mission to create clean formulas and sustainable products, crafted with innovation and versatility in mind.

What’s your skincare and beauty routine?

We both have the same skincare routine, which is minimal, because we have sensitive skin. Three simple steps in the morning - just face wash, vitamin C, and sunscreen. At night, it’s a serum and sometimes a tretinoin after washing my face.

What are your current favorite products?

How do you prepare to look your best for a big event?

We almost always do the same makeup look and it takes us 5 minutes. Our trick is we never use foundation on our face because we feel like it changes our features and ages us. We spot conceal, use our skin suede as a bronzer, and then we use our solar tint blush and light beam highlighter. Then powder. Always have the powder on hand. That’s why we created the tiniest compact powder that exists—the Soft Blur powder

Are there any challenges to your beauty routine - work, home, travel etc? Have you ever made any lifestyle changes to support your wellbeing?

Constantly being on the move has taught us to keep our beauty routine simple and adaptable. As long as we have a few favorite essentials, we’re set. One lifestyle change we’ve naturally embraced since starting weight training two years ago is prioritizing protein. We’ve become so dedicated to our protein intake that it’s second nature now. Making it a habit has definitely improved our energy levels, skin, and hair health.

Another lifestyle change is adding Agent Nateur Holi Mane to a small shot of water every morning and taking it. It has helped our hair grow so much! We also make it a point to walk every day, at the very least 8k steps—not just for physical health but to clear our minds and come up with new ideas. Our best ideas come to us while walking.

What’s your go-to healthy snack?

I love putting cinnamon on apples, and then if I want a small savory snack I go for cucumber with some salt and lemon.

When you were younger, who was your beauty icon? Who inspires you now?

My mom, and still my mom!! She is the epitome of beauty from the inside and out.

Any ‘tweakments’ (skincare and non-surgical) procedures you’d recommend or have planned for ‘one day’?

We swear by the LightStim! We got a professional-grade one as a Christmas gift a couple of years ago, and it’s become our go-to for skincare maintenance. For those unfamiliar, it’s a light therapy device with UV-free LEDs that address various skin concerns.

Also the CO2 carboxy gel mask by CO2Lift is the most insane, healing, moisturizing mask you’ll ever use when your face is dry or tired from traveling. I once had a burn on my face from a facial, and I used the CO2 mask and it completely healed it in one hour. I’ve always been afraid of lasers thinning my skin, so I usually opt for things that nourish and strengthen the skin, like polynucleotides. I tried it in London the last time and I love it.

What is your go to/ favorite beauty look to create and what inspired this look?

We love just the everyday, no-makeup makeup look, as boring as that sounds. We also use that as a base then dress it up with a darker lip, or add more blush/bronzer/shadow depending on the look etc.

Biggest beauty mistake?

Not having a lip balm on you at all times.

And finally… what can you NOT do without? What’s the holy grail of the products you use?

I can’t live without a lip. If it had to be one product it would be the Simihaze velvet Blur in Suede, because it’s a lip balm and lip stick in one.
